Sony is expanding the Venom universe with a new animated film. This project will be the first of its kind, based on the comics of the famous anti-hero.

Directors Zack Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein have been appointed. This duo previously gained recognition with the hit horror film "Final Destination: Blood Ties."

Production will be handled by Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach. These professionals worked on the previous Venom installments.

Tom Hardy will also be involved in the project. However, it remains unclear in what capacity he will participate.

He may serve as a producer or return to voice Venom. Hardy has portrayed Eddie Brock in the last three films.

The character Venom was created by writer David Michelinie and artist Todd McFarlane. He debuted as a villain in 1988 in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #300.
