The long-awaited adaptation of the cult video game "BioShock" is finally starting to take shape with real timelines. Project producer Roy Lee shared new details about the filming in an interview.
According to Lee, director Francis Lawrence will begin work on the film immediately after completing post-production on "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes." This means filming could start in the first half of next year.
"We would have launched production a couple of years ago, but other projects intervened," noted the producer. He mentioned that there was initially the film "The Long Walk," followed by the prequel to "The Hunger Games," which is set to release in December.
Currently, the team is waiting for Francis to finish his current project so he can fully immerse himself in "BioShock." Lee also confirmed that the goal is to start filming in the first half of next year.
Thus, the production cycle is planned for 2027. This likely means the film will hit theaters in 2028.
Although plot details are still under wraps, the film is expected to closely follow the atmosphere and key themes of the original game. Audiences can expect to dive into an underwater utopia.
